Ride Log #11 @ Upton Cheyney on 28 June 2002

Back

As it's only one week before the Kona 100 we though one more loop of the Upton Cheyney route would be a good way to eleviate some of the guilt being felt for not training/preparing properly for the Kona 100! The route each time we do it seems to get easier and easier, I think it's about time we took a look at an O/S map and modified/extend the route. We pass the Cotswold way several times so there must be plenty of opportunity to branch out a bit.

Anyway the ride (as usual now!) went without any hitches, apart from the long downhill section which has become really overgrown with thissles and nettles - or which I've got the cuts/stings to prove it! Both our bikes were working fine although I do need a new front mech. The nice thing about the long summer days are the light evenings - the tracks are lovely and quiet and humidity/heat seem to stay at a reasonable level.

The route is starting to get a bit familiar now, but it's so good and so close that I really can't see us straying away from it. If anyone else knows of some good detours/routes around this area let me know.

Anyway must go now my lunch time has just ended!! Cheers and keep riding.
